hole in the guitar

so I was looking over a few old Chris articles, for lack of any new media coverage/interviews (...sigh...)

and noticed, in the interview with Acoustic Guitar magazine (? I think that was the one..) right after Dirt Floor was released. Great interview, tunings sidebar, and I think a tab.....

there is a picture of Chris, sitting back-to the wall, with his #1 ('36ish Duolian) and it looks like there is a gaping hole on the lower outside bout of the side of the guitar. later pictures I checked out show black electrical tape all over that are of the guitar, I think. I always assumed he taped down his guitar cable, right out of the input jack......

but now I wonder if there is a massive hole there, just patched over.

this really isn't a big deal, just something i randomly thought about when looking at pictures. anyone have any info?

i never thought to inspect the guitars as they lay on stage after the shows I saw....usually, I was too dazed from the show to think straight.

damn, i'm bored at work right now.....
