14(+) Gauge Strings for Nat'l Reso?

Hi -

I need to tune my Nat'l Reso Delphi down to a low C tuning and I'm noticing that I lose some volume/projection from the cone when I do this using my normal 13 gauge strings.

Is anyone using a heavier set of strings and what are these sets comprised of gauge wise?
Obviously the high strings would be 14e, 18b, etc but do the lower strings also get much heavier or does that add too much tension on the neck.

Someone suggested using my 13 gauge strings but susbstiting a heavier gauge high e and b.

Any suggestions would be mucho helpful.

Your brother in resonance,
Sammo
