WCB tuning

I think the tuning pattern for "Her Furious Angel" is different from any other songs ever... a new one?
I guess it's : B F# B F# G# B (6 to 1 string).
And some others are ----

Made from Dirt : D G D G A D
Her Furious Angel : B F# B F#G# B
Ghost Dance : B E B E F# B
War Crime Blues : B E B E F# B
Invisible Day : B F# B F# B C#
I Can't Stand It : D# A# D# G A#D# (Open D#)
Dead Cowboy Song : B F# B F# B C#
The Call Up : B F# B F# B C#

What do you dust friends think?

Her Furious Angel demo

I tried to make a demo of Her Furious Angel song so that you may see my guess (as the previous post) is not too bad.
HerFuriousAngel.mp3 file (less than 3MB) is stored in the "shared" folder at :
http://briefcase.yahoo.co.jp/rustradio1999

I playd it with a 1992 National Resolectric, using a Fishman saddle PU only and plugged directly into PC.
Sorry for not very clear sound because played quietly in midnight with no picks.

Welcome your comments.

Hiroshi

PS
The tuning itself is very beautiful and I added a little extra intro with open strings + harmonics.

Beautiful song, and you nailed that demo. I have asked you this before, but how do you get thse tunings so low? Also, same strings as Chris with the D'adarios? I can't get a real good slide tone outta those electric strings. Thanks for your help!!

Tuning

I use same set as Chris' : D'addario .011 - .049 Electric to the Resolectric (and Triolian and other two reso guitars too).
Yes, this set might be too loose for those lower tunings...I guess Chris maybe uses greater gauge set now??
Anyway I tried to fret strings not too strongly to be "sharp". One tip I got is to tune the 6 string slightly lower.
Because it tends to go sharp when being fretted and also rung opened.

About the "sound" - it's really hard to tell, but I just think Acoustic strings (phospher bronze) sounding little too bright.
I like Electric strings better for more availability of picking nuances and left hand technics
...then the sound could be controlled a little easier than Acoustic strings.
Slide tone - I use heavier (thicker) Brass slides for longer sustain, and Brass is easier to cut than stainless steel.

demo available, finally

Hello
I've been too lazy but I finally made and uploaded my demo of White Rider.
I just noted the tuning in the above previous post but how do you believe?
Listening is believing. A bit too much ambience, sorry, but I like digital stereo effects...
Visit: http://briefcase.yahoo.co.jp/rustradio1956

Thanks el for the Gypsy show recording. I couldn't figure out the tuning without it.
I managed to capture Chris softly plucked open strings just before start the song.

Hope to hear any comments, dust friends.

Hiroshi

Blues for Andre

Hi,
After listening to a bunch of live recordings (thanks for traders!),
I found the tuning of "Blues for Andre" would be same as HVH song
- that is A D A D E A
Actually, the song (and HVH, Made from Dirt as well) was played with
C F C F G C in those live shows, though.

Hiroshi

PS
Jay, I couldn't figure out the tuning of "Silhouette" because I couldn't find
any hints - feature of open string sound...

Hotel Vast Tuning

Hi there tuners,
I've had a bit of a go at working out the Hotel Vast Horizon tuning...

C# F# C# F# C# E

I play the verse doing something like this..

0 - 0 - 0
1 - 3 - 5
0 - 0 - 0 - 5 - 3 - 0
1 - 3 - 5 - 0 - 0
1 - 3 - 5
1 - 3 - 5

Kind of like that but with more finger picking and variations/ highlights etc.

I love to know what you guys think.

Shane
